If only it was just the stupid people

Went to the movies tonight and saw I Robot - 5 Stars - Everyone should go see it. Was closer to Asimov's real view of the world than I figured it would be. I love Isaac Asimov and anybody who has not read his robot books particularly the Caves of Steel and the rest of the R Daneel series should read them post-haste. Drop everything else you are doing and read these books and read them to your children. Don't forget to through in the Foundation Series because R. Daneel does show up in those also. I love R. Daneel. I admit it I am a robot lover. Will Smith looked pretty good naked too. But I would still take a robot over Will Smith.

I Robot is an interesting look at what happens when you force someone else to be in charge of your safety and well being. One of those be careful what you wish for sort of movies.

Which brings us right back to Stupid laws in America once again. I truly wish all the stupid laws could be laid at the feet of stupid people at least that would be a good excuse. Our politicians could say I am sorry but I was a stupid person. That I might be able to understand. I really like the sorry honey can't have sex tonight cause you are being stupid . I think I have used that one a few times in my marriage but wanting to preserve the marriage I didn't say it out loud. Except for maybe once. If I remember correctly it wasn't a good move. I think maybe I was the stupid one for saying it. Thinking it is so much less traumatic. We all know how fragile male egos are.

I think maybe it is mean and evil people who like watching other people live in fear and derive power from that, that are our biggest problem. And how can you possibly stop people like Bush who seem to get off on finding new ways to scare the populace so that he can keep power. Or people like John Ashcroft who think they are the right hand of God and should be able to tell people how to live. God spoke to me once. But all he said was "you are going to work in a Donut shop". There was nothing about hate or abortion or gay marriage, maybe he caught me on a slow day.

Do you remember when John Ashcroft had the statue of Justice covered up because she was partially naked. This is a grown man and Justice is a famous statue.

Okay maybe he is just stupid but I really think that is an insult to stupid people. And God Knows Jr. Bush otherwise known as shrub (I liked his father, but he ain't his daddy) has done some pretty stupid things but As an American I don't want to admit that we voted a stupid person into to office. Oh but wait we didn't vote him into office. He stole it, So maybe he isn't so stupid, Maybe it is us that is stupid. We let him do it. And no I did not vote for shrub last time and will not vote for the narrow minded little puppet dictator this time either. I am sure he is a good man but he is a lousy president.

I doubt the Missouri law will hold up. In fifty years the people who voted for it won't admit it. They won't want anyone to know, just like the people that stood outside that school in Kansas and spewed Hatred upon the black children being integrated into the school system. But now Congress is trying to make it impossible for people to bring cases against these laws to the Federal Supreme court.

The Seattle Times: Nation & World: House passes bill to block court gay-marriage rulings

Which is something I don't understand because last time I read the constitution we all have the right to appeal anything to the highest court in the land. The Supreme Court is supposed to be the check and balance on the legislative branch to protect us from stupid unconstitutional laws. I don't see how this country could survive otherwise.

Maybe we need mean evil people and their mean evil un American laws to wake us up. To make us cherish the protections and freedoms we have. It scares me when I read surveys of people that are willing to give up their rights and freedom for an illusion of safety. There is no such thing as safety and if you believe in God then death should not be something you are afraid of. Or the people that use God to put hate and fear into the hearts of their fellow men and women. Jesus said love everybody, not spew hate and discord among the masses. Maybe I am reading the wrong bible.

I have always thought that God sponsors evil among us in order for us to understand good. But I have had enough I understand I don't want anymore. Maybe what we need for voters is a constitutional test before they are allowed to vote. They have to agree to freedom and at least have a clue how to finish the following sentence. Life, Liberty & The pursuit of ____________? Want to hear something scary. In Aprils College Government class she was one of the very few who could complete this sentence and that scares me. I think Civics should be as important as Reading and maybe more important than math, but I hate math. In our current educational system Civics doesn't manage to rate as high as football. This is one of the reasons I homeschooled.

I would like to offer an oldy but goody into this mix. A reminder that we should all speak up for those who are being persecuted and Gays and Lesbians are definitely being persecuted in regards to Marriage and survivorship laws in this country.

First they came for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up,
because I wasn't a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.
