Corpus Christi, Americas trashiest town

Ah, society as we know it, rude, crude and waiting for a beating. One I am sure will arrive when they least expect it. Last night sitting at dinner with my daughter and her family I was telling how little things make a difference. One night months ago while picking up trash, when we first started here at U-Stor, A guy honked his horn and threw out his whataburger bag at me. I believe he won the asshole of the week award at the time. Picking up trash is something we do constantly here in Corpus Christi, TX, I have never seen a city where the people were so intent on making things look like crap. Dirty diapers, half eaten food, broken beer bottles and any other form of filth they can find lines the streets of what is supposed to be a tropical beach town. I would hate to guess the amount of money this city spends on litter pick-up and its not enough, not to mention the fact that it could be spent on so many better things. Even the shopping centers here leave their parking lots filled with cigarette butts, can, bottles and other trash. Its down right disgusting.

At any rate, we are required to keep our lot as immaculate as possible, which is only good business and not something I mind, but it is a constant chore. The couple that lives across the street from the storage should get an award because they keep everything perfect at their house and yard and are excellent neighbors. Then they nasty filthy car dealership across the street on the corner was sold to Rockport motors and they also do an excellent job on cleanliness. So in the last year this little corner of Corpus has become one of the nicest on Ayers. We have even seen improvement in the littering content on our lawns. Last week one of the neighborhood residents who was out for a run as he does every afternoon while we are picking up street trash. Ran past me and then picked up all the trash he found as he turned around and ran back. I was impressed and grateful. Giving myself warm fuzzys for setting a good example and it helped restore a little faith in S. Texas humanity.

We came home after dinner last night full of the warm glow of family and food to the fact that someone had spread several Whataburger meals (Notice that it was Whataburger again, Maybe there is something int he food thats leads people to littering) across the front garden in our parking lot. It was disgusting, half eaten hamburgers papersacks and general yuck.

As near as we can tell from the video, (yes if anyone is curious we do film everything) They were trashing the place right about the same time I was telling the story of the good neighbor picking up trash to my daughter. Which proves once again that no good deed goes unpunished. So whoever you were, next time eat in Whataburgers parking lot and use the trash can instead of being a lazy good for nothing disgusting slob. Have some pride folks and some manners, please

Sad, but I would have to agree with you. This city would be a whole lot nicer if only people looked after themselves and quit littering. Not only out in the streets, but also out on the beaches. They're so littered with trash.

(I found your website via a search engine. I was looking for Corpus blogs. Cheers!)
