Stupid politics of the day

One of the things that really annoys me about politicians is that rather than take an easy way and getting on with life they try to fight silly little spin wars over the various things that fall out of each others mouths. Things that either mean nothing or are not worth all the effort. For example Bush is using two thing Kerry said, against him(which shows Bush has no concept of the real world)And Kerry as Usual is trying to fight the battle with spin rather than telling the truth and going on.

#1Mr. Bush, also campaigning in New Mexico, ridiculed Kerry for saying in an interview published Sunday in The New York Times Magazine, "We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives but they're a nuisance."

"I couldn't disagree more,'' the president said. "Our goal is not to reduce terror to some acceptable level of nuisance. Our goal is to defeat terror by staying on the offensive."

It sounds great, defeating terror entirely, but lets face it the type of oppressive society that would be required to stop terrorism would be very close to life lived in George ORwells 1984 and even in that story the subversive element for free thought was still in the world. It is would in fact be a form of government sponsored terrorism all its own.

The fact is you can't stop terrorism, there will always be shallow people with complete disregard for human life and power hungry ambitions. Kerrys statement that he wants to relegate it to the realm of nuisance is at least possible without giving up the freedoms Americans hold dear.

So Kerry get off your butt and describe the world Bush would have to create to stop terrorism, trust me most American a chafing under the Patriot Act now they aren't going to want it to get worse as it surely will under Bush.

#2With another straight face, he tried to tell Americans that when it comes to his health care plan -- and I quote -- "the government has nothing to do with it." (Laughter.) The facts are that eight out of 10 people who get health care under Senator Kerry's plan would be placed on a government program. He can run, but he cannot hide. (Applause.)

What George boy does not understand and what Kerry is not saying is that all plans now a days come with restrictions of some sort. Even the current chips program which Bush wants to enlarge is a government program and they still tell you which doctors you can use. so how is Kerry's plan any different except that is covers the people who take care of the children not just the children. And for people like us who have worked all our live but do not have insurance at the moment, Tell me I can go to a few doctors is still better than telling me that I either have to go bankrupt or skip going to the doctor altogether because I can't afford it.

While I am not big on the total socialization of everything in our government I do feel that there needs to be more done to help with both dental and medical costs in this country. I also believe that most of the rising cost factor

Then he was asked to look into the camera -- (laughter) -- and promise he would not raise taxes for anyone who earns less than $200,00 a year. The problem is, to keep that promise he'd have to break almost all his other promises. (Laughter.) His plan to raise taxes on the top two income brackets would raise about $600 billion, according to our counters, about $800 billion according to his planners -- counters. The problem is, is that his spending plans will cost almost four times as much, $2.2 trillion. You can't have it both ways. To pay for all the big spending programs he's outlined during his campaign, he's going to have to raise your taxes. See, he can run, but he cannot hide. (Applause.)

Higher taxes or not it would be nice to have affordable health care. To know that you can walk into a hospital and receive their best care regardless of your ability to pay would be a grand thing to give our children and grandchildren.

Watched the debate tonight, I vote Kerry for this one too, although I am getting really tireed of the outsourcing on Osama. It is over and done move on. It would be nice if they had something new to say, sometimes you can see the wheels turning in bushes brain as he launches into a pretermined sound byte. I think Cheney loads him up with comments and he spends the debate trying to picks spots to insert them. And I could live with out the down home good ol boy act.

The main reason I don't like Bush is that he sets a bad example for his citizens by allowing the fear to rule policy he is slowly turning us into everything we hate. An into the tyrants other countries accuse us of being.

We are better than that, Blow up our buildings and we will return to rebuild them. we walk down the streets with our heads held high. We stand for freedom. Freedom for everyone, not just memebers of a particular religion or segment of society. We practice forgivness. We fight, we build and we move on. By preaching policies of fear, Bush denigrates the constitution stripping us of our rights. Is that truly what we wish to become.
